Von Alst Operating, LLC has proudly built a reputation throughout Missouri and Illinois as a dependable contractor that continually exceeds clients' expectation. In 1989, Gerald “Jerry” Von Alst teamed up with his daughter, Pamela Burnham, and two sons, Douglas and Daniel Von Alst, to form Von Alst Incorporated in Swansea, Illinois. Prior to the formation of Von Alst Incorporated, Jerry and a fellow employee acquired the Illinois division from Henges Construction in 1970, which was located in Collinsville, Illinois. Over the next decade, they built a solid reputation as an accomplished and reliable commercial subcontractor throughout the region, transitioning that reputation to Von Alst Incorporated at its formation.
With a goal of sustainable excellence in construction, the company grew to become one of the preeminent commercial and institutional sub-contractors in the Eastern Missouri, Southern Illinois, and Central Illinois regions. In 1992, the company was certified as a Women Business Enterprise by the state of Illinois. One year later, Marla Dresch joined her siblings at the company. In 2010, the next generation of family members had joined the company when Pamela's daughter, Lindsay Burnham, started working. In 2019, Pamela's son, Kyle Burnham, had transitioned from his thirteen-year experience as a carpenter in the field to an Estimator in the office. In January 2020, Marla's daughter, Kaylyn Dresch, had begun working at the company.
On September 2010, Von Alst Operating was also certified in the city and county of St. Louis as a Women Business Enterprise. With these certifications, Von Alst Operating has and can count virtually every General Contractor in Illinois-Missouri as a business partner.
This third-generation company brings over forty years of upheld success in each of its commercial and institutional construction projects. Von Alst includes the following installations in their work: structural studs, metal trusses, EIFS, fireproofing, interior metal studs, drywall, taping, veneer plaster, insulation, acoustical grid and tile, wood ceiling, and acoustical clouds supported with manpower from the carpenters’, tapers’ and plasters’ trades.
Additionally, Von Alst has followed the green building certification institute through the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) system in many of their projects. This certification system states that we perform our projects in the following green aspects: saving energy, being more water efficient, reducing the carbon dioxide emission, improving the quality of the indoor environment and managing the ecological resources and the sensitivity to their impact of those resources.
Our vision has always been based on the most cost effective process, impeccable timeliness in completion and highest in quality craftsmanship with our skilled and long-standing employees.
